Have you had snow yet?
Well, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, you probably will be getting some in the next few weeks.
One of the things I miss least about Boston is digging out the car and shoveling the front path. Ahh, apartment living and not having a car makes things easier sometimes.
Anyway, if you have a car and some stuff to shovel, you might as well get pumped about it and get the coolest tools to deal with it.
This awesome ice-scraper thing from Quirky has all sorts of edges so you can scrape or chip or squeegee the windshield if you need to with the same tool.
It has a handle near the head so you can get a lot of your weight on it close to the surface where it counts, and also has a telescoping handle so you don't have to walk around the car to the other side.
And you can use it to scrape backwards and forwards. Good design.
$79.99 Carant Yukon sleigh shovel
This massive shovel lets you clear the driveway fast. My friend Dave swears by it. Why spend an hour going over the same spot again and again when you can do it all in 10 swipes?
It weights 6 pounds, which isn't too bad, and it's 26" across. That is more than 2 feet. Whoa.
It says it is good for all kinds of snow, but I bet it is really great when you get tons of light dry powder (instead of wet slush which would be heavy).
$9.95 No Slip ice and snow carpet
This sisal mat is 18" wide by 10' long and you basically just throw it over the steps and walkway so you don't have to shovel or use sand or salt.
It's the lazy way out, but very environmentally friendly also.
It reminds me of that scene in Big Daddy where the kid pees on the floor and Adam Sandler just covers it up with newspaper instead of cleaning, so now I like it even more.
