The Future Perfect

The Future Perfect is a store I wandered into in NYC yesterday that had interesting furniture and home goods. Here are some of my favorite pieces:

This hollow glass allows you to see all of the liquid inside and bonus--it's dishwasher safe because it's Pyrex.

Fun sunny colors and great condition. A lot of people I know are trying to get away from plastics in the kitchen so these would be a great alternative to tupperware.

Such a nice shade of green and a cool accent piece in any office or living room. This could even be good for kitchen storage or for underwear and socks. The proportions please me with the legs that aren't too long or too short.

Closed-Toe Wedges

Kate the Great has requested some summer wedges with a closed-toe for the office, and I am happy to do some searching for her!
Peep-toe wedge heels are a lot easier to find, but some offices just don't allow them, so for the conservative working ladies, here are some fully closed options.

It is all silk and drapey and wrapped and falls so nicely on the body. I think this would flatter a lot of body types. And I love the way wearing silk feels.

Good for work with a cardigan over it or for a party or dinner with stilettos.

I like the details int he setting and the half-dome. Who needs the whole pearl anyway? They just end up sticking up off your finger too much.

Wedge Sandals

Well, I decided to go for the Coach Maleena wedges, but then when I looked for them at the store, they didn't have them. They are also sold out of my size online, and the uptown store doesn't have them either. I believe this is what they refer to as SOL.

So I am still on  a wedge hunt. I had a pretty good navy pair from Zara that lasted only 1.5 seasons before dying. I want some that hold up a little longer this time.

I'd like:
-platform
-not too steeply arched
-makes me a little taller
-open toe
-solid or muted colors (navy or tan would be best)
-not made of lacey cloth like my last ones that my toes poked through
-preferably not slingbacks since those don't stay up on me that well

These look indestructible with the wood and the rivets. Hopefully the hole makes them a little lighter.

I like the mix of gold and tan colors here but it might be a little too low for what I want. I wish it had a platform on the toe.

Adventures in nailpolish trends

Two new nail trends I'm seeing on the net these days are "the accent nail" and "the half-moon manicure."

I had done the blue shade (it's Essie but I forget the name of it) last weekend, and the sticker on the pinky as well. But in the shower today the polish on the ring and middle fingers chipped so I decided to experiment with them.




On my middle finger I painted over the blue but left a half-moon shape. I used Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in "Steel Gray" which I got at the drugstore. It is great and I really love the color, the coverage, and the wide flat brush which makes the polish go on more easily.
I got it on a lark when I saw it because I liked the lavender undertones but I am glad I did and I will be buying more Rimmel if I see another good color.
I don't love the half-moon style, though I like the way it looks in the pic so maybe it's just the angle of me looking at it that I don't like.

My ring finger has H&M "It's genious M" [sic] which I just got this morning because it was in the $1 sale been at the store on 18th and 5th ave. I like the color but the coverage isn't great. This is 3 coats and the first coat was really weak and streaky. It is also not as shiny and smooth as better polishes. Glad I didn't spend the original price of $4.95 on this one.
One of the reasons I wanted to try the H&M polish is that they are coming out with a whole new line of colors that look really attractive (see below). Now I think I might skip them though, unless I hear that they've changed their formula.

The bottle shape is different from the one I bought, which is the more classic square on the bottom with a cylinder top, but I don't know if the contents are the same.

Forever 21 Sandals (for the rest of us)

Here are some great sandal choices we all can afford from F21.
They might fall apart the minute your foot touches them, but hey, you can look cute for that minute.
