Word to the Wise: Hive sample sale

 

 The Hive showroom is having a sample sale.

I went the 2 last times they did and got some great Herion dresses. (May 2011 sale, December 2011 sale)

They had a bargain bin of stuff for $20 that would usually have been more like $250, so I will definitely be going back and hitting it up.

Go to an atm first, it's cash only and you will wish you had brought more money.

DIY Cap-toe shoes

This tutorial is easy and looks really good.
Take a pair of your ballet flats or other shoes and give them a makeover with some paint!

I think regular paint would probably crack and flake off if your shoes are flexible, so for ballet flats I would use shoe polish or dye instead of paint.
And I'd probably spray some weather protector over the whole thing after it was done.

Betsey Johnson Files Chapter 11

Looks like Betsey Johnson is bankrupt :(
Though some stores will close, the line and brand will continue after restructuring.

I remember walking down Newbury street in Boston in high school and stopping in the store to look at potential junior prom dresses. They were always too flashy for me, but my friend Jenn looooved them.

Later, more recently, I went to one of the Betsey Johnson sample sales and got a white cocktail dress and satin purse for a gala.
I should dye those and wear them again!

As the stores close, I expect there will be sales.
I'll let you know if I hear anything!

Etsy Find of the Day: Shoulder cap chain jewelry

As the weather slowly heats up (wasn't it warmer for a little while there before?), everyone's thoughts turn to the new skin they will be exposing and how to decorate it.
What, you weren't thinking about that?

This shoulder cap is cool. It's a necklace and a sleeve and no one else will be wearing it.
It's also an easy way to make a plain tee or tank look really fancy and special.

This is what it will look like when you get it, which is really confusing to me. It's good to have the image of it on as a reference point.
I think your neck goes in that top middle hole part and then your arm gets wrapped in with the unhinged chains. I think they clasp in your armpit. Not sure though.
